Bay Cat
Species name: Catopuma Badia
Other names: Bornean Bay Cat, Bornean Red Cat (English); kucing merah (Indonesia); chat bai (French)
Description: One of the rarest of all cats, the Bay Cat comes from skins in museums, and a single specimen from 1874. More recently, a dead Bay Cat was found in the 1980s, a victim of a hunter’s trap. A bright chestnut color, the Bay Cat lives on the island of Borneo. Scientists believe it survives on birds and small mammals, including monkeys.
